This is a special fundraising concert for Arts for Art and their annual Vision Festival. Lowline Lab is an underground park that uses solar technology to grow plants in an old section of subway station. AND Jason Kao Hwang's fabulous string orchestra, Spontaneous River, will be performing there in a tribute to two great creative musicians and violin/improviser heroes, Leroy Jenkins and Billy Bang. DRUM/BRIDGE is a performance by Andrew Drury's Large Ensemble and teens from the East Flatbush/Brownsville neighborhoods. PS 189 "The Bilingual Center" has a student body that is about 70% Haitian and 20% Dominican which, among other things, means the students have an extraordinary aptitude for drumming! This will be an exciting performance--and the debut of my DRUM/BRIDGE project.

Featuring Andrew Drury (drum set/composer), Jason Kao Hwang (violin), Melanie Dyer (viola), Briggan Krauss (alto saxophone), JD Parran (multi-winds), Ingrid Laubrock (tenor saxophone), Ku-umba Frank Lacy (trombone), Brandon Seabrook (guitar), Alexis Marcelo (keyboard), Ken Filiano (bass).

From Vienna: Muze, a duo of Bernadette Zeilinger (contrabass recorder & other flutes) and Diego Mune (guitar). And from Berlin: clarinet great Michael Thieke returns to Soup & Sound to play with the Bulgarian violinist and Berlin resident Biliana Voutchkova.
